The Gift of Time

iBremis Realty, inc. | 04/09/2020

I was recently asked by a reporter from Boston Agent Magazine "How do you find ways to keep your team productive and motivated and ready for the future with the various stay at home orders that have been put in place?"

Below is my answer, as well as this month's monthly blog.

The Gift of Time...

I would say to others that might be struggling right now that it is best to have a glass is "half-full" mentality.  What others might view as a set back I see as an opportunity.  Our world has been moving far too fast.  People were so focused on their jobs and their careers that they forgot to take the time to ponder about what is important to them.  We now have an opportunity to slow down and regroup.  How often does that happen?  No fear of FOMO here (Fear Of Missing Out).  We are all staying at home now, so it forces us to slow down.  I remember saying just a few months ago that I wish the world would just stay still so I could catch up on so many things without feeling like I was missing out on others.  The entire world now has the opportunity to do so.  I encourage my team and others to take advantage of this "gift of time".  Time is the one commodity that is so valuable that we can never get it back.  How we each choose to spend it will lay the foundation for what lies ahead.  I encourage others to take control of their destiny.  You can decide to make and or choose to remember this as a challenging time yes, but when we get through this (and we will!) we can decide to look back on this and remember this as one of the greatest opportunities of our lives.

How can we do this?  We can learn some new skills, implement new technology, and focus on the things that are important to us.  We can concentrate on doing what we need to do to help grow our businesses, spend or share quality time with our families, tell our clients how grateful we are to have them and recognize and appreciate what is truly important to us.  In many ways, we have been granted a "gift". A gift that is so precious that we can never get or give it back.

How are you choosing to honor your gift?

Our company offers lots of tutorials and classes for our team and agents and we are in constant contact via text, email, phone or weekly catch up teleconferences.  We are adapting to teleconferencing, in many cases are conducting virtual showings or open houses, and are preparing ourselves for what eventually promises to be an active market. We are still mindfully active and available for our clients but once this "Stay at home order" lifts, things will get crazy again.

We recently sent out several social media posts from our company to our agents, our clients, and the general population encouraging people to view this time this same way, not as a hindrance but rather as an opportunity and we suggested a list of things people can do to avoid going stir crazy.  We also sent out a piece encouraging people to adopt and keep a positive mindset and to re-program themselves as to how they are going to view this time in their lives when we get to the other side of this.  Should you find them helpful, please feel free to email me at irene@ibremislaer to get a copy.

We are choosing to focus on greater things.  Amongst the many other things listed above... We are coordinating efforts to assist one another, are reaching out to our friends, neighbors, and clients, and are volunteering and donating either our money, our talents, or our time to or assist 1st responders and others who have greater needs than ours in our local community.

We will get through this and see brighter days... This is your opportunity to be proactive and create your destiny.  Just remember... This too shall pass... We are all in this together!  And... We are here for you if you need us!!
